Singles’ Day, also known as Double Eleven, is the largest shopping festival in the world with nearly 1 billion people taking part in 2020. Founded as an occasion to celebrate single people, it was adopted by Alibaba’s e-commerce platform Tmall in 2009 with the aim to boost sales between Golden Week and Chinese New Year. On November 11, and the days before, Chinese shoppers flock to online stores to find the best deals and discounts.
