The Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) has finally returned with its new season which kicked off in Chengdu in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2019-2020 season was suspended in January and then later cancelled altogether. The league’s first game in nine months took place in October 1 with the start of the 2020-2021 season which will initially take place in Chengdu.
“At the moment, our country and everyone around us are expecting us to unleash more energy and passion. Choosing this special occasion – the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival – for the new season to begin is our gift to our country.”said Yao Ming, president of the Chinese Basketball Association
