September’s London Fashion Week is just around the corner, and Chinese fashion designers are ready to move into the spotlight. Here are some emerging designer brands to look out for.
Mithridate
Founded in 2018 by Demon Zhang, Mithridate is an emerging gender-neutral luxury Chinese brand embedded with artisanal craftsmanship. With seven stores located in premium shopping locations in China, the brand now has its sights set on expanding globally.
Huishan Zhang
This London-based luxury brand was launched in 2012 by Chinese-born designer Huishan Zhang. Through his designs, Huishan aims to bridge Eastern heritage with Western influences. His collections are both romantic and timeless as they tie in feminine details, strong lines and directional design.
Pronounce
Established by Yushan Li and Jun Zhou in 2016, Pronounce focuses on putting a modern twist to hand crafted heritage. The brand has already established a strong following on Chinese social media platforms, with 35,000 followers on Weibo and Xiaohongshu. Currently, the duo has stockists all over China, including major multi-brand stores like Réel, I.t, and Labelhood.
Feng Chen Wang
Based between London and Shanghai, Feng Chen Wang is another emerging fashion talent from China. Her interpretation of traditional Chinese aesthetics into modern-day garments has garnered her a massive following of 180,000 on Chinese social media. What’s more, the brand has caught the eye of global fashion giants such as Converse, UGG and Levi’s who have reached out for collaborations.
Xu Zhang
Xu Zhang is a menswear label that fuses art, science, eastern and western aesthetics by using laser cut kirigami patterns to create his fashion masterpieces. The brand aims to “explore the boundaries between seriousness and vivacious, futuristic and retro, masculinity and femininity of modern menswear.”
Victor Wong
Hailing from Hunan, China, Victor Wong is the first LFW label to present an eyewear collection in the form of a runway fashion show. Bold shapes and innovative designs have earned Victor Wong global recognition in the fashion industry.
