Xiaomi tops Russia’s online smartphone sales

Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung and Apple to take the top spot in online mobile phone sales in Russia in Q4 of 2020. Total smartphones sales in Russia fell by 11% year-on-year due to COVID-19, yet the proportion of online sales continued to rise as consumers turned towards e-commerce.

Russian Satellite News Agency reported that Xiaomi and Huawei were among Russian’s top 20 favourite brands in October 2020. In the last two years, Xiaomi’s ranking has been increasing steadily. It first entered the top 20 list in 2018 and jumped to 7th position in 2020.

Xiaomi’s global market share reached 13.5% in Q3 of 2020 as it exported 46.60 million smartphones worldwide. As of November 18, 2020, it had sold 140 million of its Redmi Note mobile series globally.
