China’s TikTok counterpart, Douyin, saw its daily active users (DAU) reach a peak of almost 700 million on the eve of Chinese New Year.
On February 11 (the eve of 2021 Chinese New Year), the DAU of Douyin was 580 million. The total daily users of Douyin Speed Edition (a platform that helps users to save storage space on their smartphones) exceeded 84 million and Douyin Huoshan Edition (another short-video content platform) was 28 million on this date. The three platforms combined to form a total of 692 million users.
