Chinese netizens applaud restoration of temporary Wuhan hospital

Chinese netizens celebrated the restoration of the Wuhan Sports Centre’s stadium on social media yesterday. It was transformed back from being a makeshift COVID-19 hospital during the city’s virus outbreak. It received 1,056 patients from February 12 until it was closed on March 8, and reported zero deaths, no medical staff being infected, and no cured patient getting reinfected.

The return of the sports stadium was welcomed with 7,500 spectators coming to watch a basketball game on October 4.

Contrasting images went viral yesterday depicting a court filled with makeshift hospital beds to a stadium holding a basketball game full of spectators cheering.
