Beyond Meat is planning to further expand its plant-based Beyond Burger in 210 KFC stores throughout mainland China. The burger will initially be available for three weeks only.
Since entering China’s meat-free market in April 2020, Beyond Meat has announced partnerships with Starbucks, and Yum China’s KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. The company is also working within the retail industry with Alibaba’s Freshippo supermarket, as well as METRO China and local distribution partner Sinodis.
The popularity of plant-based products is skyrocketing in China. Xuerong, a leading fungus supplier in China, invested 14 million RMB into a Beijing-based food technology company in July. Plant-based dumplings and mooncakes have also recently launched in the Chinese market.
