Baidu Apollo’s new driverless car ensures 99.99% success in delivering passengers

Weltmeister, an electric car brand, and Baidu Apollo, a technology and autonomous vehicle company have joined forces and released a new mass-produced self-driving vehicle model built on Weltmeister’s W6 model. It is called Baidu Apollo Moon Weltmeister version as it’s a new generation of Baidu Apollo Moon – an autonomous vehicle for ride-hailing.

It has achieved a 99.99% success rate in driving passengers to their destinations, even on complex roads. In the case that the system fails, it has a backup, that the vehicle will still execute the necessary driving instructions sending passengers to a safe place.

This new model has achieved several innovations in the self-driving operating interaction field, including independent control of four-door locks, voice control, an app-controlled air-conditioner, and smart car doors.

According to J.P. Morgan, China’s autonomous driving market will reach $7.1 billion by 2025, with Baidu being one of the pioneers in this revolutionary sector.

So far, its self-driving services have expanded to five cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, covering an operating area of over 600 km² with over 400,000 people in China already using their services.
