Zoom stops its direct services to Chinese consumers

Zoom will stop offering direct services to Chinese users, i.e. it will no longer sell new or upgraded products directly to China. Video conferencing services will now only be operated via third-party partners in the region.

The topic hit 170 million views on Weibo as netizens complained that another Chinese company is being forced to concede to the US. Zoom has faced scrutiny from America regarding its links to China.

This news comes a day after ByteDance announced that it will be selling its US operations due to pressure from the Trump administration.
