WeChat looks likely to remain active in the US after District Judge Laurel Beeler said on Thursday that she “does not intend” to overturn the decision of halting the implementation of the WeChat ban.
She added that the government had not put forward any new evidence to suggest that that there were valid security concerns related to the WeChat app. Beeler temporarily blocked Trump’s Executive Order banning WeChat from being used or downloaded in September.
The Justice Department has appealed Beeler’s ruling to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
