Shenzhen becomes the first Chinese city with full-scale 5G development

Shenzhen announced yesterday that it has finalised its 5G network development, making it the first city in China to provide the next generation of wireless networking at full scale.

Shenzhen’s mayor Chen Rugui announced that the city had deployed more than 46,000 5G base stations. This figure surpasses the total number of 5G base stations in the WHOLE of Europe.

As of June, the total number of worldwide 5G users had reached 56 million, of which more than 40 million were Chinese. The number of 5G users in China more than doubled in just a month and had surpassed 88 million by the end of July, accounting for over 80% of global users.

China aims to build a total of 600,000 5G base stations by the end of 2020. This development shows China speed at work!
