Two foods traditionally eating during Mid-Autumn Festival, mooncakes and crabs, have seen a strong growth in sales ahead of the upcoming festival. This year’s National Holiday will include National Day, as well as Mid-Autumn Festival.
Between September 20 to 26, sales of mooncakes increased 240% compared to the same period in 2019. Mooncakes are available in a huge range of fillings but those filled with eggs, pork, bean paste and kernel have been this year’s most popular products. Ominpork also recently released plant-based meat mooncakes.
Crabs are also in high demand and, according to JD Daojia (the online retail platform of Dada Group), sales increased by 80% year-on-year.
