The ride-hailing giant Didi will launch express services in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. Didi announced that 80% of drivers who are active in Auckland’s online car-hailing market have already registered on the platform.
In recent years, Didi has expanded rapidly internationally and its entry into New Zealand marks its eleventh overseas market. In August, the company launched in Russia, itsĀ first Eurasian market.
In 2018, Didi opened headquarters for the Australia-New Zealand region in Melbourne. Currently, Didi has a presence in 28 major cities in Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. The platform has amassed more than 1.5 million active passengers and nearly 80,000 active drivers in Australia, making it the second largest travel platform and a strong competitor to Uber.
Didi is considering listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange next year with a current target valuation of over $60 billion.
