Nongfu Springs IPO makes bottled water entrepreneur China’s richest man

Nongfu Springs was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today with an early-morning trading price of HK$39.20, making its founder Zhong Shanshan the richest man in China. Nongfu Springs is the top seller in China’s bottled water market.

Entrepreneur Zhong Shanshan was ranked 1,063 on the 2020 Forbes Billionaires List published in April with a fortune of $2 billion. However, after today’s listing, Zhong’s total fortune was worth nearly $59 billion. This makes him China’s richest man ahead of Tencent’s CEO Ma Huateng who is worth $57 billion and founder of Alibaba Jack Ma’s $51 billion.
