According to a report by the 12426 Copyright Monitoring Centre which monitored short video platforms between January 2019 and October 2020, 92.9% of video creators in China suffered from infringement copyright issues. The study surveyed more than 10 million short form videos produced by 100,000 video creators. They found that over 30.09 million short videos had been reposted and reedited from the 10 million original videos that they monitored without permission from the creators.
There have been calls for more strict regulations and IP rights in the fast growing short-form video market to protect video creators.
