On 1 June, Thai beauty brand Mistine officially named Chinese Olympic table tennis champion Wang Chuqin as its new global ambassador for sunscreen, kicking off a broader push for its full range of sun protection products.

To celebrate the announcement, Mistine launched Wang Chuqin-themed gift boxes and merchandise on its flagship store. By 1 p.m. on launch day, more than 70,000 gift boxes had sold, with total sales surpassing 40 million RMB (around 5.5 million USD) in just two hours. Mistine also held onto its position as the top-selling sunscreen brand across major platforms.

Mistine’s rising profile in China reflects more than marketing muscle—it also speaks to growing China–Thailand ties. At Mistine’s recent product launch, Prinat Apirat, Royal Thai Consul General in Shanghai, said: “2025 marks the 50th anniversary of China–Thailand diplomatic relations. Over the past five decades, our two countries have built deep partnerships across many areas. Mistine, one of Thailand’s most recognized brands, has been a key link in that relationship for 37 years.”
As one of the fastest-growing sunscreen brands in China, Mistine has built its name by tapping into youth culture and crossover collaborations. Wang’s broad appeal among Gen Z, paired with his confident and energetic image, makes him a natural fit for the brand’s message: “Fear no sun, shine with confidence.”
