We had dopamine dressing, Maillard style and mint mambo but what if there is a trend that combines the best of these all into one? That would be the latest “lulicore” style, which emerged on Rednote with a three-way collab between Rednote’s REDGALA fashion gala, Vogue, and POP MART’s resident fashion icon LABUBU, and took Chinese social media by storm.

What is it, you ask? The hint is in the name “lulicore”, a phonetic translation of “可露丽风” (keluli feng), which means canelé style. So essentially, it’s a combination of brownish colours with a splash of bright pastel shades. Depending on the “topping” or “filling”, you can choose any colour combination with top and bottom, or outer and inner garments.

Each season, social platforms, especially Rednote or Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese sister app, work with a major fashion magazine to forecast trends. This year, a blend of past years’ popular trends, combined with Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year, mocha mousse, adds credibility and another layer to the dessert theme (and the colour brown).
