Indonesia visa waiver: 55 countries now eligible for China’s 240h transit

On 12 June, the National Immigration Administration of China announced that Indonesian nationals can now enjoy the 240-hour transit visa waiver. Visitors from Indonesia can enter at 60 ports in 24 provinces in China, including cities such as Beijing and Shanghai and travel in designated regions for 10 days without needing a visa before exiting.

The inclusion of Indonesia will extend the list of countries that already enjoy the 10-day visa-free transit in China to 55, of which 40 countries are in Europe, including Russia and the UK, and 6 countries in the Americas, including the United States, 2 countries in Oceania, and 7 nations in Asia, including South Korea, Japan and the UAE.

The transit visa waiver is China’s strategy for boosting travel, for both leisure and business, from countries that don’t currently have a mutual visa-free travel agreement with the country. However, most Netizens are more interested in whether these countries will have reciprocal transit policies with China in future.
