By June 2020, China’s three main telecommunications operators (China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom) had constructed more than 400,000 5G base stations. This marks an increase of 270,000 in five months as China had just 130,000 stations at the end of 2019.
They aim to have built a total of 600,000 by the end of 2020. This rapid development in 5G infrastructure is ahead of the rate of which users are taking it up – the number of 5G users currently stands at 66 million.
