In mid-April, the SAIC Volkswagen (上汽大众) joint venture unveiled its latest concept car: an Audi A7L fully decked out with designs by Chinese fashion designer Feng Chen Wang. Apart from the concept vehicle, the collaboration will also include a limited-edition A7L-inspired collection with items including a white shirt, a 3d-printed bag and a keychain.
Audi and Wang released a video of the designer discussing her ideas. The Feng Chen Wang x Audi A7L concept car is called an art car by both parties of the co-branding, and takes inspiration from the simple white shirt, or shirts from different eras. The white silhouette of the Audi is covered with sculpted fabrics and shirts resembling a bas-relief. This explains why the mini-capsule collection includes a white shirt.
On 19 April, Feng Chen Wang announced its next pop-up party at the Wukang Garden on the iconic Wukang Road, the “Spring Meet at Wukang Garden”. At the 24 April event, alongside Feng Chen Wang’s latest collection and a new Converse Chuck 70 collab, the Audi A7L concept car will also be on display, open to the public for the first time.

SAIC Audi (上汽奥迪) has been localising heavily in China, with photoshoots with traditional Chinese architecture and driving tours in Guilin, the site of the picture on the 20 RMB (2.74 USD) bill. The latest team-up with the Chinese designer further merges the conventional with innovation.
SAIC Audi not only produces the popular A7 wagon variant, the A7L and Q6, its SUV offering, but is also introducing the EV brand AUDI-E. It will be worth watching to see what the brand brings to the Auto Shanghai 2025 show, which opens on 23 April.
