A US judge ruled to temporarily halt the US government’s ban on downloads of short-form video app TikTok yesterday (September 27).
US District Judge Carl Nichols’ acceptance of TikTok’s request for a temporary restraining order means that the app will no longer be taken off Apple’s app store or Android’s Google Play store.
“We’re pleased that the court agreed with our legal arguments and issued an injunction preventing the implementation of the TikTok app ban. We will continue defending our rights for the benefit of our community and employees.”

President Trump has given preliminary approval to a deal between Oracle, Walmart and ByteDance (the owner of TikTok). However, the partnership is still waiting to be signed off by Chinese authorities.
