Takeaway speeds to feed Microsoft consumer demands

People in China can now order Microsoft’s personal computers or other consumer electronics online and get them within an hour. This convenience is brought by strategic cooperation between Dada Group, JD.com and Microsoft. As part of the cooperation, 100 Microsoft authorised retailers to have their own page on JD.com, offering online shopping in 32 cities in China. Customers who order from JD.com are promised to receive the products in an hour, delivered by Dada Group, one of China’s largest local on-demand retail platforms.

Shanghai is one of the first to start offering this one-hour delivery service. Ms. Feng, a Shanghai citizen, couldn’t wait to try it out. She ordered a new Microsoft PC on JD.com for her secondary school son, as the new school year approaches. Surprisingly, she received the product in only 20 minutes, satisfied by the efficiency.

“Now it’s time for express e-commerce. The digitalisation trend in the retail industry is irresistible. Our cooperation with Microsoft connects their physical stores to our shopping platform. This helps Microsoft develop an omnichannel ecosystem. It is a win-win solution”, said Mou Guangsen, General Manager of Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances Business Department at JD.

Microsoft also highly anticipates this cooperation and looks forward to extending its one-hour delivery service to more cities in China. Lin Xuecong, Retail General Manager Great China Region, said, “While making sure that our products are of good quality, we always listen to our consumers’ needs. Now when people shop for electronics, they expect instant satisfaction. That is where the cooperation comes in, ensuring fast delivery to our clients.”
