Just as Rednote showcased its spring trend forecast with “lulicore”, a pastel plus brownish combination at the REDGALA, Douyin Mall, TikTok Shop’s Chinese sister app, also brought out its own spring 2025 trend, the “auracore”. Douyin was behind hits such as dopamine dressing and the Maillard style, but this time, the two platforms’ predictions are surprisingly close.
In fact, the “auracore” arguably encompasses “lulicore”, as it is also a combination of pastel colours and some brown, beige and grey. Auracore was also endorsed by Vogue a few weeks before lulicore took the stage at the REDGALA. On Douyin, the topic “Auracore” (#欧若风) has already amassed over 2.52 billion views and posts with the hashtag can also get a boost from the platform, ranking number 3 on the “Seeding List” (种草榜).
On 27 March, Douyin Mall launched the SS2025 Douyin Fashion Week (一年一度春夏大秀). Douyin brought together 6 brands such as Self-portrait, Fila and Beneunder, as well as 29 celebrities and influencers. It was a hybrid AI fashion show and shoot on its platform, showing off its new trend with THE new trends in tech and social media, AI and extended reality (XR).




Celebrity and influencer models sported Auracore outfits in AI-generated backgrounds captured with XR technology. Unitree robots G2 humanoid and Go2 K9 models were both featured during the event, adding more technological innovations to the fashion show.
The show was viewed 28 million times on the day, with over 190,000 viewing simultaneously at the same time at its peak. Auracore, with its versatile applications from smart to sporty and a wider colour palette, may be even more wearable for everyday use. However, it is also less identifiable compared to the Canelé-inspired lulicore from Rednote. We might need to wait until early to mid-summer to see which style has survived the ever-changing fashion world.
