Let right be done: Luckin Coffee wins lawsuit against Thai imitator

It has been over a year since Luckin Coffee reportedly lost its case against a “fake Luckin Coffee” in Thailand. The Thai chain’s rights holder, the 50R Group, sued for 10 billion THB (2.86 million USD at the time) in compensation. The latest development is that Luckin has finally won the case against its imitator.

On 11 March, Luckin Coffee posted on its social media channels that it had won the trademark and infringement case against the Thai “copycat.” Thai local news outlets reported this a day before, after the law firm that helped Luckin obtain the new judgement released a statement.

Not only will the imitator chain be forced to stop using Luckin branding in the country, but it will also pay Luckin 10 million THB (296,103.28 USD) for historical damage. The ruling will also mark a new step for Luckin’s expansion in Southeast Asia.
