On 20 March, Chinese tech giant Huawei hosted a launch conference for its latest Pura smartphone and Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (鸿蒙智行, HIMA) EV products. One of the biggest highlights of the night was the announcement of the wide-foldable Pura X phone. The 7,499 RMB (1,037.10 USD) smartphone is to be hailed as the “first native AI smartphone”.
Another highlight of the night was the announcement of the latest Luxeed (智界) brand ambassador, Chinese-born American actress Liu Yifei (of Mulan fame) which caused the conference to go crazy after her name was announced by Richard Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei Consumer Business Group.

- #华为 刘亦菲 Huawei Liu Yifei: 24.71 million views on Weibo, ranking number 1 on the Hot Search list
Huawei also showed that it would be embracing DeepSeek with a duo-model AI that supports both its proprietary PanGu large language model (LLM) and DeepSeek. Huawei’s conference combines the feature-rich excitement of tech events with a dash of glamour provided by its latest brand ambassador. For marketers in the tech space, it can be a good reference for focusing on both the products and their users.
