This year’s Golden Week, which takes places over Mid-Autumn Festival, will be held from October 1 and 8 and will also include China’s National Day.
It’s estimated that the number of tourists during Golden Week will bounce back to 80% of last year’s level when 782 million trips took place domestically. Online travel platform Ctrip predicts over 600 million trips (by any means of transport) will be made during Golden Week. Competitor travel agency Qunar estimates that the total number of domestic flight trips will reach more than 15 million, a 10% increase from last year.
Ctrip is home to more than 4000 Chinese travel agencies which have released over 10,000 tourism products in preparation for the national holiday.
China’s domestic travel industry has bounced back as China has got the COVID-19 pandemic under control.
