Small Can Tea rolls out new “Trendy Eastern Tea” line

Small Can Tea has launched a new line of aromatic, unsweetened bottled teas inspired by its “Trendy Eastern Tea” concept. Priced at just 5 RMB (about $0.69) per bottle, the drinks offer bold flavor without any added sugar.

The brand introduced the line at a launch event on 21 May at Qingcheng Palace in Beijing’s Xiannong Altar. The date carried extra meaning—it was both International Tea Day and Xiaoman, a traditional Chinese solar term that marks the season when grains are just full but not overripe. Small Can Tea used the occasion to answer rising demand for lighter, cleaner teas that keep the natural fragrance of tea leaves.

Drawing on 13 years of tea-making experience, the company developed the new drinks using its own “Gongfu Extraction Method.” This in-house technique brings out a strong tea aroma with zero sugar, offering a healthier option without losing the taste of traditional tea. The launch echoes the spirit of Xiaoman—finding the sweet spot between fullness and restraint, a key principle in Eastern philosophy.

The design is just as striking. Partnering with a haute couture fashion designer, the brand took cues from traditional Chinese aesthetics. The bottles feature classic Chinese colors and a distinctive “tea twig” pattern, giving the product a stylish look that’s easy to spot on shelves.

“Chinese tea stays alive by constantly evolving and breaking through old boundaries,” said Du Guoying, Chairman of Small Can Tea. “We’ve used industrial techniques to capture the essence of Gongfu tea, so people can taste centuries of tradition—and see how that heritage takes shape in today’s world.” With this launch, Small Can Tea aims to redefine what it means to be an authentic tea brand—not just by staying true to traditional flavors, but by giving Chinese tea a modern voice that speaks to the next generation.
