Food delivery platform Meituan has launched a “late-night food festival” which will take place during the whole month of August. The festival will meet consumers’ demand for late-night shopping as 60% of citizens living in urban areas tend to consume in the evening. Summer is also the most popular season for shopping.
Meituan will offer vouchers and subsidies for consumers and merchants who buy late-night food after 10pm.
The festival aims to help merchants increase their revenue, and Meituan predicts that those who offer late-night food will see their daily sales volume be 17% higher than regular merchants on the platform. It also estimates that their sales in August will double, compared with June.
Meituan recently launched a campaign celebrating their delivery drivers – read more in our case study about Knights Day.
