Luckin Coffee teams up with Chengdu Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival to bring traditional crafts to life

On 19 May, Luckin Coffee launched its new seasonal drink, Light Gardenia Green Tea, as part of a special collaboration with the 9th Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival. A second drink, Gardenia Latte, will debut on 26 May.

The Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival is a major cultural event that celebrates and preserves intangible traditions, while encouraging exchange between countries that have signed the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. First held in 2007, the festival takes place every two years in Chengdu. This year’s edition will run from May 28 to June 3 at the Chengdu Intangible Cultural Heritage Park.

This collaboration’s limited-edition packaging features patterns inspired by traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Highlights include: a panda and Kui dragon motif, plus cloud-shaped Ruyi patterns by Sichuan brocade masters Hu Guangjun, Chen Xingyu, and Jiang Liping; a leaping deer design from Tibetan embroidery artist Yang Huazhen; and a blooming butterfly pattern by silver filigree artisans Dao An and Wang Xiaolu.

Beyond drinks, Luckin is also launching collectible merchandise, including a special-edition stamp album, mystery boxes, and metal pins. Each item showcases detailed designs rooted in traditional techniques, offering a premium, heritage-rich experience.

This is Luckin’s first time partnering with the festival. Known for its creative product development and marketing, the brand is reimagining Sichuan’s rich cultural traditions in ways that speak to a younger crowd. With this collaboration, Luckin is helping more young people connect with the beauty of intangible heritage—bringing age-old traditions into the rhythm of modern life.
