As predicted last month, China has officially surpassed North America to become the world’s largest box office for the first time in history. Earlier today (October 15), China’s film market reached 12.95 billion RMB for 2020 so far.
War epic The Eight Hundred (八佰) is the best performing film so far this year bringing in 309 million RMB of sales. Patriotic film My People, My Homeland (我和我的家乡), which topped the box office during the National Day holiday, followed at 225 million RMB.
