Plans for the widely anticipated Universal Beijing Resort, which will open in May 2021, have been published. The theme park and entertainment resort will feature the flagship Universal Studios Beijing, the Universal CityWalk retail, dining and entertainment complex, and two hotels.
Universal Studios Beijing will feature seven themed areas based on popular films and characters, including Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers: Metrobase, Minion Land, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, Hollywood and WaterWorld.
So far, nearly 90% of construction has been completed. The project, which began in 2016, is estimated to cost over 20 billion RMB. A new metro station is also being built close to the entrance of the site to attract visitors.
