This year marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. At a government reception, Piyaphak Sricharoen from Thailand’s Association of Southeast Asia (ASA) and Chang Yumeng, Minister-Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, jointly named Pop Mart’s DIMOO the “Special Cultural Friend for the 50th Anniversary of China–Thailand Relations.”

To mark the occasion, Pop Mart unveiled a limited-edition DIMOO figure in Bangkok, blending cultural elements from both countries. A life-sized version of the figure made a surprise appearance at the event, presented a custom-designed anniversary gift box to the Chinese Embassy and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs with artist AYAN and other representatives.
The commemorative figure draws inspiration from shared cultural symbols. The cloud above DIMOO’s head has been reimagined as a baby elephant, paying tribute to Thailand’s “Land of Elephants” nickname and a symbol of good fortune. DIMOO also wears traditional Thai clothes and is framed by a lotus-shaped flame, representing wisdom and light in Chinese culture, as well as the warmth of China–Thailand friendship.
As part of this year’s celebrations, DIMOO serves as a shared cultural symbol. In this “Golden Year of Friendship,” Pop Mart is using art toys and original IP to build deeper connections between Chinese and Thai youth, while strengthening cultural and emotional ties.
