To mark World Oceans Day 2025, Zihun Creative Font Library has partnered with Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park to debut a custom typeface: Zihun Haichang Ocean. Launched under the theme “字愈海洋” (a wordplay in Mandarin where “字” means “character” and sounds like “治,” meaning “healing”), the project turns typography into a tool for empathy, connection, and ocean conservation.

The design team drew on imagery and emotions tied to the ocean—waves, marine life, and the natural rhythm of sea ecology—to shape each character. These elements are reflected in the brushstroke-style letterforms, creating a visual language grounded in restoration and care. The font isn’t just decorative—it’s designed to echo the idea of healing the ocean with each stroke.

To put action behind the message, Zihun is offering the typeface permanently free for nonprofits and public-interest organizations. During the campaign period, individual users can buy a full commercial license at a special public-benefit price, with all proceeds donated to third-party marine conservation groups.

The initiative also includes a user-generated content campaign inviting the public to create ocean-themed designs with the font and post them on Rednote. The goal is to turn creative expression into advocacy and get more people involved in protecting marine ecosystems.

As typography finds broader use in digital media, branding, and content creation, Zihun Haichang Ocean shows how fonts can go beyond design to become a voice for purpose. With applications in everything from kids’ products to pet care and lifestyle brands, this typeface doesn’t just look good—it helps do good.
