On 10 July, Alibaba’s smartphone browser, Quark, upgraded its “Super Search Box”, releasing a one-stop AI service. With this upgrade, users will get an integrated information service containing retrieval, creation, summary, editing, storage, and sharing. On Weibo, the hashtag #New Quark, Your AI Search# attracted 800 million views. Quark’s “Super Search Box” advertisements offline were shown on big screens in shopping malls, plazas, airports, and other venues in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing, attracting passers-by.
Quark created a 40-metre-long giant flower wall with a big search box on the Bund (外滩) in Shanghai, visually exhibiting the new “AI Search” function as an outdoor installation. Apart from wall images, participants could receive flowers, increasing public demand for the product and awareness of it.
Airport large-screen advertising has become a competitive tool in the advertising industry given its great display area and high placement efficiency. Aliyun, Lark, and Quark have all run ads on big airport screens.
In November 2023, Quark, as well as 1688, Goofish, and DingTalk, were listed as the first batch of Alibaba’s strategic innovation businesses. Quark’s upgraded “Super Search Box” combines three main functions: intelligent answer, intelligent creation, and intelligent summary.
Under the intelligent answer function, Quark can respond accurately while creating logical relationships and specific explanations, deeply grasping the true intention of the question, breaking out key information, doing secondary matching and integrating information. Like an expert with great experience, it also provides images, notes, and videos as answers.
Whether for essays, work summaries, or planning projects, the intelligent creation function enables AI writing to produce several articles depending on the subject, word count, and style. From videos, articles, and other materials, the intelligent summary tool can rapidly condense information.
Quark also uses Generative AI in its search engine capabilities, which can rapidly avoid duplicates. Unlike ChatGPT, which is positioned as an intelligent chatbot, Quark Browser is a lightweight and clean mobile browser. In Quark Browser, users can access ChatGPT for improved conversation fluency and logic, as well as search, voice, and image recognition features.
