Bershka, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius to close China stores

Inditex has announced that it will close all physical stores of Bershka, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius in China during the first half of 2021. Inditex, one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, owns eight global brands: Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home, and Uterqüe.

As of 2019, China was home to 62 Bershka, 65 Pull&Bear and 35 Stradivarius stores, however, they have struggled to stay profitable amid the pandemic. According to the company’s 2020 financial report, global sales of Pull&Bear fell 33.79%, Bershka 35.9% and Stradivarius fell 35.3% in the first half of 2020.

Despite the closure of physical stores, the three brands will maintain an online presence in China through their official websites and Tmall stores.

“Based on our continuous analysis of the needs of Chinese consumers, Inditex’s young brands will focus on strengthening their e-commerce development.”
