Cosmic Kylie Jenner, Cosmic 2.0 and Cosmic Intense will be available in Harmay (話梅) stores, and only Harmay stores. The Rednoteable retailer has secured exclusive distribution rights to Kylie Jenner’s fragrance line in China, and just months after Kylie’s mother, Kris, was hailed as China’s digital God of Wealth.

Cosmic launched globally back in 2024 to near-instant popularity. Coty, who owns a majority stake in the range, named it as one of two leading new women’s fragrances in the US that year. It went on to perform ahead of their expectations, then expanded.

The three fragrances have been available in China through unofficial cross-border sellers. Now the range has a proper China home, one that guarantees controlled pricing and retail data.
For sampling reasons, the physical retail element suits perfume over an online-first launch. Harmay’s discovery-focused stores back this up further. But could Kylie Jenner’s strongest hand actually be her mother?
Could Kylie Jenner’s strongest hand actually be her mother?
In some Chinese circles Kris Jenner is known as the Southern California Empress Dowager, a goddess of wealth and fortune. This is largely irony of course, and just the kind that the Chinese internet likes.
The moniker went viral a few months back. Now Chinese internet users have AI-generated pictures of Kris Jenner on their social accounts, waving wads of cash and handing out job offers.

As with much of online humour the exact origin of the story is unclear, but it’s likely a recognition of Kris Jenner’s commercial instincts. As one BiliBili user 番茄猫猫猫猫 put it: ‘Kris has always had tremendous drive and initiative. She isn’t afraid of failure.’
The Dao view: Distribution trumps the dowager

The So-Cal Empress Dowager may bless the fragrance line – and her topic’s 53 million Rednote views certainly won’t hurt – but strength here is in distribution. Harmay benefits from the exclusivity, while it lasts. A hard-to-find product gives consumers good reasons to visit stores. In return Coty can test demand the Kylie line among a market of beauty-conscious urban consumers in 13 Chinese cities before going for a wider rollout.
